Hi y'all!
So we made it to Vegas. Amazing city, the strip takes your breathe away, so over the top, no expense spared but not an ounce of tackyness whatsoever. Our Tour-guide took us out for dinner in the Luxor, all you can eat buffet WITH EVERYTHING. On one plate, I had Pizza, chinese food, mexican food, sushi, fried chicken, swordfish steak and chips and salad! Immense. We had given him some money for a night out he was taking us on but we had not bee given the details... we turn the corner to see what's waiting for us and it's.... A MASSIVE, STRETCH MINIBUS LIMO! We had the whole thing to ourselves and it was packed full of drinks and Pimpin' tunes so we got down to it. We went to the Vegas sign for some photos, went someplace else for a free show and then went to the Bellagio. We decided to do some gambling and went to the slot machines, I put a few dollars in and won $400!!! just like that! Incredible rush but I do have a head on my shoulders so I went my way with the cash rather than betting any more!
Hung over the next day we went in search of food! We ate at the Harley Davidson Cafe and then went to watch the fountain show at the Bellagio... where I popped the question to Jen. She said yes and it was a lovely moment. To commemerate the moment and to celebrate my winnings, I went off to get a Tattoo. I now have each card suit tattooed across my wrist.
Later we went to see a show. Criss Angel and the Cirqu du Solei were doing a show at the Luxor so we bought the cheapest tickets in the house, right in the back corner. 10 mins before the show started, the usher moved us 5 rows from the front! I was having a lucky couple of days! The show was incredible, that man has some talent but the dancers stole the show, they were outstanding!
Yesterday we arrived in Zion Nat Park and climbed a mountain... yeah, that's right, I climbed a mountain... and not a sissy little one either, a massive one. Parts of it were so steep we had to used chains that they'd bolted into the rock to keep from falling off! Pictures speak louder than words so those are to follow!
Today we ventured to Bryce Canyon and hiked through it. All this hiking, I'm turning into a bit of an action man! Knackered now though!
Lake Powell tomorrow, than the GRAND CANYON!!

The Start of the Trek
...and so it begins! We met the tour leader and our fellow trekkers at 07:30 in the lobby of the hotel. Most of us, 8 out of 10 are from UK. The other two are Danish. We all got pn very well as we signed some forms and disclaimers, nothing out of the ordinary, just saying that we have to wear seatbelts on the bus and that! We loaded our bags into the trailer and set off for our first destination, San Diego!
We got to our first campsite, a pretty cushy affair with pools, shops, showers and electrical hookup! Also, if you hadn't guessed, Wifi! Not the kind of camping I remember as a kid, but hey!
Then we set up tents and set off straight away for Missipn Beach! Lovely beach with a calmer atmosphere than the L.A. ones! I went in the sea and it was BRUTAL! Waves were frequently over my head even though I was well within my depth, so I was battered about a lot and decided sunbathing was a much more sophisticated activity to endure!
Right now I am enjoying some Mexican beer, sitting by a fire in the middle of San Diego! Nice!
More San Diego tomorrow then Vegas the day after!

First week in Los Angeles!
We've done our first week in L.A and we're having a great time! We're getting used to the California lifestyle, people here are crazy but everyone just accepts one another's craziness! It's a very friendly place in the right parts but not good without a car.
So on Saturday we went to Manhattan Beach again for the day, the weather was great and we rented some deck chairs from a place called Funn Bunns. We tanned for a bit and then went for a a stroll down the sea front! We went for dinner at Sizzler which is like an American versiom of Harvester with free salad bar (they dont do salad unless its ready prepared and dressed).
On the Sunday, we went to Venice Beach to walk on the boardwalk. Venice is NUTS, loads and loads of people all on the boardwalk, it was like a carnival, very bohemian and very "hippy" but obviously now with a modern influx of wannabe hiphop stars! They'll hand youva cd, put some headphones on you and then ask you for $10 before you even get a chance to speak! They sulk when you decline! Ha! There are lots of food places, shops selling Bob Marley and Barack Obama T shirts, and lots of people selling "art" and whatnot! We saw Muscle Beach, a massive outdoor gym! All of this in the 30c heat! A brilliant Sunday!
We rentedvs car for Monday and Tuesday and took a trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Six Flags has some awesome rides but doesn't quite have the atmosphere of Universal or somewhere like that. The only thing they had done well was the Batman portion of the park! Batman the ride is SO fast, and there are so many good other rides but Tatsu was my favourite! It's like Air at Alton Towers only Bigger, Better and Badder!
Today we went to Hollywood, to see the sign and all the othet bits! We got quite close to the sign took some great pictures! After that, we went to Hollywood Blvd and the Walk of Fame to see some "stars" and to Graumann's Chinese Theatre to see who's hands we had! Mine fit Arnold Schwarznegger's best and Jen's fit Emma Watson's! Terminator and Hermione! Nice!
4 days til the trek starts and we can't wait!

First impressions of L.A.
Hi all,
First day in L.A. and the weather is pretty good, a little windy but sunny nonetheless. There is supposed to be a heatwave at the weekend so we are going to take it to the beach!
The flight was ok, long but we were kept watered and fed so that's all good. The legroom was amazing, we managed to book into some good seats!
When we landed, we were pooped and pretty much stayed in the room. The hotel is really nice, you can hear planes taking off but that doesn't really bother us at all!
Yesterday we went to Manhattan Beach which is reasonably local and is lovely, very upmarket as well which is only a good thing. Then we took a bus to Venice and walked down Abbot Kinney Blvd, a very bohemian vibe with lots of boutiques. Then we went back to the hotel and crashed out.
We were supposed to go out for tea to Sizzler (the american version of Harvester) but fell asleep instead... at 7pm... fully dressed... with the T.V. on! Class!

We're going TOMORROW!
Hi all,
We're off tomorrow at 12:05, we're packing today and I've already done an online check-in and chosen our seats (LEG ROOM, YAY!), so we're pretty much ready to go!
Jen and I are very excited, words cannot express it, and we've been looking more into these first 10 days in L.A. We want to do all of the cheesy "Hollywood" bits like you'd expect and also try and take in a lot of relaxation since the last few weeks have been so hectic, this is a sort of little holiday before we start the trek, which starts on the 25th. We were trying to find free tickets to be part of a Studio Audience for a show like The Big Bang Theory or Jay Leno, still a possibility, need to look more when we're out there. We also want to do things like the Warner VIP Tour and go to Six Flags Magic Mountain.
As for now, we are packing, or should I say Jen's packing, I've finished but she has too many clothes so can't fit them all in. haha! My bag weighs 3.2 Stone! luckily that is within the limits!
So, see y'all on the other side!
